99Yellow is looking for a Remote HR Operations and Employee Engagement Specialist to support startup clients with day-to-day HR functions. The role involves managing key HR processes including onboarding, documentation, performance management, employee engagement, compliance, HRMS implementation, and process improvement in a fully remote setting.
The selected candidate will manage the complete onboarding process, including pre-onboarding communication, document collection, induction calls, policy sharing, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for new hires. The role will also handle complete offboarding workflows, including documentation, exit interviews, and final settlements in coordination with relevant teams.
The candidate will draft HR policies tailored to the specific needs of each startup client while ensuring clarity, compliance, and alignment with company culture. The role will coordinate statutory compliance including PF, ESIC, PT, TDS, Labour Laws, Shops and Establishment, Gratuity, Maternity Benefits, POSH, and other applicable regulations. The candidate will maintain statutory registers and HR compliance documentation and ensure that HR policies remain compliant with changing regulations.
Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records and ensuring error-free preparation and storage of key documents such as offer letters and employment agreements.
The candidate will assist in managing the end-to-end performance appraisal process and partner with founders and business leaders to define organizational and functional goals. The role will facilitate quarterly and annual goal-setting exercises, help managers create meaningful KRAs and KPIs, track goal progress, support review discussions, and drive accountability through structured performance tracking.
The selected candidate will build meaningful connections with employees in a remote work environment and plan and coordinate virtual engagement initiatives such as team-building activities and online events to foster a positive work culture.
The role will also involve providing general HR support, process improvement, data management, and driving the digitization of HR operations to improve efficiency and scalability. The candidate will implement HRMS solutions for clients according to their requirements, including platforms such as Keka, GrytHR, Zoho, Razorpay, and other relevant HR technology solutions.
Candidates should have a minimum of 8–15 years of hands-on experience in HR operations, with startup experience being a strong advantage. Strong understanding of core HR processes including onboarding, offboarding, employee documentation, and performance management is required.
The ideal candidate should have experience drafting HR policies and managing employee records with a high level of accuracy. The candidate must be comfortable working independently and managing multiple clients or tasks in a remote-first environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage employees across different roles and backgrounds are required. Proficiency in HR software tools, Google Workspace including Docs, Sheets, and Drive, and other digital platforms for HR operations is expected. A proactive problem-solving attitude with strong organizational skills and attention to detail is essential.
