Hospitality, Boutique Hotels, and Wildlife Lodges. 11-50 employees. Pasban - The Gatekeeper is hiring an Assistant Manager, People and Culture for our corporate office in New Delhi. We operate a portfolio of boutique and experiential hotels including wildlife lodges, nature and wellness retreats, and heritage properties, many of them in offbeat destinations away from the metros. The corporate office is small and senior, the People and Culture function is being built now, and this is its first operating role. The Role: This role is the operating engine of the people function. Strategy is set above, execution sits squarely here. You are responsible for the administrative and operational running of the function including the employee and candidate databases, the monthly payroll cycle, first-round screening and shortlisting, and the documentation and coordination that keep every property serviced. Reports to the Head, People and Culture or to the Founder until that position is filled. What You Will Own: Database and records management to own the recruitment and employee databases as the single source of truth, maintain candidate trackers, employee master data, personnel files, and HRMS audit-ready at all times. Payroll processing to run the monthly payroll cycle end to end including attendance, leave, overtime inputs, joiners, exits, increments, incentives, deductions, payroll register, disbursement coordination, payslips, full and final settlements, and statutory input schedules covering PF, ESI, professional tax, and TDS. Recruitment operations and first-round screening to post and refresh mandates on job portals, LinkedIn, and social channels, source and headhunt where required, screen applications, conduct first-round telephonic or video interviews, record structured screening notes, present shortlists, schedule subsequent rounds, and complete reference checks. Onboarding, induction, and exit formalities including offer letters, appointment letters, joining documentation, day-one setup covering systems, bank accounts, insurance, identity cards, unit introductions, confirmations, transfers, and the full exit process. Employee lifecycle administration covering confirmation, increment, transfer, appreciation, and warning letters, managing leave and attendance systems, maintaining the HR calendar, and acting as the first point of contact for employee queries on salary, leave, benefits, and documentation. Compliance and audit support covering statutory registers and documentation across all locations, renewal tracking, and audit-file assembly. Engagement execution and reporting covering town halls, festivals, birthdays, milestones, offsites, internal communication, and monthly people MIS covering headcount, open positions, time-to-fill, cost per hire, attrition, leave liability, and payroll cost. What We Are Looking For: 3 to 6 years in HR operations, payroll, and recruitment with hands-on experience running a payroll cycle and screening candidates independently. MBA or PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent, while a graduate with strong HR operations experience will also be considered, and hotel management education is an advantage. Hospitality experience preferred, and multi-location or distributed-workforce exposure is valued. Payroll command with confidence handling attendance inputs, deductions, settlements, and statutory schedules. Strong Excel and systems skills, comfortable working on an HRMS and with digital record-keeping. Sound screening judgment to assess fit on a first call and write actionable screening notes. Documentation discipline with methodical, complete, and consistent execution. Clear written and spoken English and Hindi. Absolute discretion with salary and personal data. Measures of Success: Payroll processed and disbursed on the committed date every month with nil correction entries. No duplicates, no unnamed records, or stale summaries in databases. Applications screened and first rounds completed within agreed timelines. Every employee file and statutory register complete and audit-ready at all times. Work Setup: Corporate office based in New Delhi covering the corporate office and all hotel properties, with occasional travel for onboarding drives, audits, and engagement events. Selection Process: Telephonic screening, followed by an in-person interview at the New Delhi corporate office, reference checks, and offer.
